Cohort 6 AWEC for African Female Entrepreneurs

AWEC is the driving force behind the transformation and growth of hundreds of African female entrepreneurs. We’re looking for the next 200 women to join our cohort for a high-impact practical learning experience.

AWEC is inviting applications for its highly selective leadership and business management capacity-building programme from January 16 to January 29, 2023. This programme is intended for African female entrepreneurs who want to enhance their education, improve their abilities, develop their network, and build lifelong connections.

– What to Expect in the Programme

The AWEC programme is demanding and time-consuming. What fellows can expect!

  • Participate actively in learning and networking over the duration of the 12-month programme (May 2023-April 2024)
  • Participate in AWEC activities for 4 to 6 hours per week, usually online.
  • Throughout the programme year, participate in at least one AWEC activity every week.
  • They will be pushed, stretched, and inspired as they gain new knowledge.
  • Improve their talents, expand their peer network, and alter their enterprises
  • Be assigned a mentor and take ownership of their mentor/mentee relationship. Be introduced to a peer group and actively participate in group discussions and activities.
  • Gain access to a programme advisor who can provide assistance as needed.
  • Respond to AWEC surveys on a regular basis to improve your overall AWEC experience.

– How You Will Benefit

Fellows will get the following benefits upon successful completion of the 12-month programme:

  • Connect with a broad network of African female entrepreneurs.
  • Establish contact with a senior business mentor.
  • Improve your planning, leadership, and business management abilities.
  • Learn the financial, marketing, and strategy abilities required to grow and scale their business.
  • Create a soft skill toolkit that includes self-confidence, resilience, teamwork, and cross-cultural communication.

– Who Should Apply

Women who meet the following requirements are encouraged to apply:

  • Current or potential entrepreneurs from any sector or nation on the continent.
  • Citizens of any African country who live on the continent or in the diaspora.
  • Entrepreneurs who started for-profit or non-profit businesses.
  • At ease with remote teamwork and collaboration, particularly when using digital technologies.
  • Proficient in both verbal and written English.
  • Regular (at least weekly) Internet connection via computer or tablet.

There is no discrimination in AWEC admissions based on race, religion, age, disability, marital status, education, business revenue, geographic area, sector, or industry.

Please keep in mind that your business must clearly impact Africa for those residing in the diaspora.

– Timeline of Event

Cohort 6 will take place between May 2023 and April 2024. Individual and group events are held on a monthly basis.

Please anticipate attending 2-3 Zoom-enabled sessions per month between the hours of 1 and 5 p.m. UTC.
