Department of Architecture
M.Sc. Architecture
Admission Requirements
Admission into the M.Sc. Architecture programme may be through any of the following modes:
Graduates of Department of Architecture, Federal University Birnin Kebbi:
Candidates who have successfully completed the undergraduate B.Sc. Architecture programme with a
minimum of Second Class Lower, and as well graduates of the Department of Architecture Federal
University Birnin-Kebbi will be given much priority for consideration.
Such candidates must have further fulfilled all requirements for admission at the undergraduate programme,
ie; must have obtained five credits at ordinary level or its equivalent in Mathematics, English Language,
Physics and two other subjects from the following:
Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Building Construction, Chemistry, Geography, Economics, Pure Mathematics
and Land Surveying.
Applicants from Other Universities/Institutes:
Candidates who applied for admission from other accredited programmes (both NUC and ARCON) of
Architecture from other institutions are eligible for admission provided vacancies exists. Such candidates will
be screened by the admission committee and if found qualified will be admitted into the Postgraduate
programme.
Candidate must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation.

Department of Applied Geophysics
Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Geophysics
Admission Requirements
Candidate must possess relevant Degree/Diploma/Certificate from recognized and approved institution for
admission into the postgraduate diploma programme as stipulated below:
i. Third class degree in related area (geology, physics, mathematics, etc.)
ii. Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects
iii. HND in any area related to Geophysics (with at least lower credit)
iv. In addition to above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation.
Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Applied Geophysics
Admission Requirements
Candidate must possess relevant Degree/Diploma/Certificate from recognized and approved institution for
admission into the M.Sc. Applied Geophysics programme as stipulated below:
i. First degree in Applied Geophysics or Geophysics related area (with at least second class lower).
ii. Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects
iii. Third class degree in Geophysics with at least five (5) years practicing experience.
iv. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Geophysics with at least Upper Credit.
v. Candidate with degree in Surveying or Geography may be considered for admission with remedial courses.
vi. In addition to above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation.

Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
Postgraduate Diploma in Biochemistry
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FUBK
Admission Requirements
The following shall qualify for the Postgraduate Diploma in Biochemistry:
i. Graduates of Federal University Birnin Kebbi or any other recognized University with a minimum of
third class in a relevant field or its CGPA equivalent.
ii. Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects
iii. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with minimum of lower credit pass or its equivalent in
relevant areas.
iv. In special cases, holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with minimum of lower credit pass in non-
related area may be admitted after passing some test as may be prescribed by the Department/Faculty.
v. In addition to above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation.
Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry
Admission Requirements
The following shall qualify for the M.Sc. in Biochemistry:
i. Graduates of Federal University Birnin Kebbi or any other recognized university who have obtained the
approved degree of Bachelor with at least second-class honour or its equivalent, or candidates with
University degree and appropriate Postgraduate Diploma of Federal University Birnin Kebbi, or any other
recognized University with at least a credit level pass.
ii. Candidates whose degrees are unclassified with average of “C” or 50% or above. Such candidates may
be subjected to qualifying tests.
iii. Candidates with only Bachelor’s degree with third class honour who have at least five years relevant
working experience.
iv. Candidates who possess Higher National Diploma (HND) with at least a credit pass from recognized
institution and at least credit pass at Postgraduate Diploma level of the Federal University Birnin Kebbi,
or any other recognized institution in the relevant area.
v. Candidates who hold qualifications other than the ones listed above, which are acceptable to the Board
of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University.
vi. Candidates may be required to pass examination, set by the department to determine their suitability for
postgraduate work.
vii. In addition to above, a candidate must satisfy the University’s requirements for matriculation.
Department of Computer Science
Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science (PGDCS)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FUBK
Admission Requirements
i. A minimum of Third class degree in any physical Science, Engineering or related areas from Federal
University Birnin Kebbi or any other recognized University
ii. Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects
iii. Applicants with Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer Science or any related area.
iv. In addition to above, a candidate must satisfy the university’s requirements for matriculation.
Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in Computer Science
Admission Requirements
i. Applicants must possess at least credit level passes in five subjects including English Language,
Mathematics and Physics to form the core subjects with credit in any other two relevant science subjects
from Biology, Chemistry, ICT, Computer Studies, Agric. Science and Electronics at the Senior Secondary
School Certificate or its equivalent.
ii. A good Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from a recognized institution of not lower than second
class.
iii. Applicants with Higher National Diploma (HND) in computer science with an upper level pass can be
considered.
iv. In addition to above, a candidate must satisfy the university’s requirements for matriculation.
Department of Mathematics

Masters of Science (M.Sc.) in Mathematics

Admission Requirements
The following shall qualify for the M.Sc. in Mathematics:
i. Graduates of Federal University Birnin Kebbi or any other recognized University who obtained a
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics with a minimum of Second Class Lower or its equivalent.
ii. Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects
iii. Candidates with University degree and appropriate Postgraduate Diploma of Federal University Birnin
Kebbi or any other recognized University with at least a credit level pass.
iv. Candidates whose degrees are unclassified with average of “C” or 50% or above. Such candidates may
be subjected to qualifying tests.
v. Candidates with only Bachelor’s degree with third class honour who have at least five years relevant
working experience.
vi. Candidates who possess Higher National Diploma and a Postgraduate Diploma with at least a credit pass

Admission Requirements
The following shall qualify for the M.Sc. Statistics:
i. Graduates of Federal University Birnin Kebbi or any other recognized University who obtained a
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics with a minimum of Second Class Lower or its equivalent.
ii. Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects
iii. Candidates with University degree and appropriate Postgraduate Diploma of Federal University Birnin
Kebbi or any other recognized University with at least a credit level pass.

of Postgraduate School and Senate of the University.
viii. Candidates may be required to pass examination set by department to which they are seeking admission

Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance (PGDAF)
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FUBK
Admission Requirements
The following shall qualify for PGDAF
1) Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects.
2) Bachelor’s degree obtained from a recognized institution with at least third class in Accounting or
any related area (Business Administration, Banking and Finance, Marketing, Insurance).
3) Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Business Administration or Banking and Finance
with upper credit honour from any recognized institution.
4) In addition to above, a candidate must satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University.
5) Any other qualification acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and the Senate of the University.
Master of Accounting
Admission Requirements
The following shall qualify for the Master of Accounting
1) Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects.
2) Bachelor’s degree obtained from Federal University Birnin Kebbi or any recognized institution with a
minimum of second class lower in Accounting, Finance or Banking and Finance.
3) Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance with upper credit from Federal University Birnin
Kebbi or any recognized institution.
4) In addition to above, candidates must satisfy the University requirements for matriculation.

Admission Requirements
The following shall qualify for the M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance
1) Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects.

Postgraduate Diploma in Entrepreneurship
The following shall qualify for PGD in Entrepreneurship
1) Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects.
2) Relevant Bachelor’s degree not lower than third class honour from Federal University Birnin Kebbi or
any recognized institution.
3) Bachelor’s Degree with at least second class lower in any area not related to Administration may be
considered.
4) Higher National Diploma with Upper credit.
5) In addition to above, candidates must satisfy the University requirements for matriculation.
6) Any other qualification acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and the Senate of the University.
7) Candidate is also required to have at least one year post graduation experience.

Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing

The following shall qualify for PGD in Marketing
1) Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects.
2) Relevant Bachelor’s degree not lower than third class honour from Federal University Birnin Kebbi or
any recognized institution.
3) Bachelor’s Degree with at least second class lower in any area not related to Administration may be
considered.
4) Higher National Diploma with Upper credit.
5) In addition to above, candidates must satisfy the University requirements for matriculation.
6) Any other qualification acceptable to the Board of Postgraduate School and the Senate of the University.
7) Relevant professional qualification
8) Candidate is also required to have at least one year post graduation experience.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FUBK
The following shall qualify for M.Sc. in Economics
1) Five ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics and three other relevant subjects.
2) Bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) in Economics from Federal University Birnin Kebbi or any recognized

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES FUBK
Masters of Arts (M.A.) in History and International Studies
Admission Requirement
1) Five O’level Credits which must include English Language, History or Government.
2) Bachelor’s degree in History, History and International Studies, History and Diplomatic Studies,
History and International Relations, History and Strategic Studies and Education History with at least
Second Class lower.
3) Candidates must have either NYSC certificate or an NYSC exemption certificate
4) In addition to above, all candidates must satisfy the University’s requirement for matriculation.
PhD History and International Studies
Admission Requirements
1) Five O’level Credits which must include English Language, History or Government.
2) Bachelors’ degree in History, History and International Studies, History and Diplomatic Studies,
History and International Relations, History and Strategic Studies and Education History with at least
Second Class honour lower division.
3) Candidates must have either NYSC certificate or an NYSC exemption certificate
4) Masters of Arts degree in History, History and International Studies, history and diplomatic studies,
history and International relations, history and strategic studies. The candidates must be graduates of
approved and designed universities, and must have obtained a CGPA not less than 3.50 on a 5.00 scale
or its equivalent.
