The Akwa Ibom State College of Science and Technology was established on 3rd November 1997 as a “School of Remedial Studies” to replace the defunct School of Arts and Science Uyo, which was phased out in 1991.

The School was at first established to provide a bridge for our sons and daughters who could not make it at first attempt at the Senior Certificate Examinations to be able to remedy their shortfalls.

The College is also accredited by the National Board for IJMB, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria. The IJMB is now a one-year full-time intensive programme and the College offer courses in the Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities depending on the student’s programme of study and number of credits made in the WAEC/NECO Senior School Certificate Examination or its equivalent.
